Author's Note: I'm not sure when this would take place, I was thinking probably sometime after he lost Rose but a little bit before he met Martha. Also, reader-chan is a teen, but I mean, Rose was a teen when Nine first met her, so I figured it was okay.

You sobbed into your pillow, clutching it to your chest.

Why?

What had you done wrong?

You had thought that he was happy with you, but then he dumped you, and you were so utterly lost.

You knew you weren’t the prettiest, or the skinniest, or the smartest, or the most talented, and maybe you were stupid for being this distraught after only dating for two months but didn’t you deserve more of an explanation?

Instead of just “Oh, my mom found out we were dating, I guess this means we can’t date anymore.”

You had known that his parents didn’t allow him to date when you started dating, but fuck, did he even try to fight them? Why couldn’t he have just told his parents that he broke up with you and still dated you?

It didn’t make sense.

You knew it was ridiculous to be this sad over losing a boy, but you thought he was different.

He was sweet, he was nice, he could make you laugh, and now, he wasn’t yours anymore.

It was just, it was typical. Your life wasn’t perfect, never would be, but you didn’t fucking need this. You were already stressed out enough because school was just terrible, and your parents fought way more than they should, and, to top it all off, one of your few friends was moving away at the end of the year.

Fucking fantastic.

You sat up on your bed, wiping away the rest of your tears. You were going to try to be positive about this. Maybe a walk would clear your head?

You decided that, yes, a walk sounded nice, going into your bathroom and splashing cold water on your face. You dried your face with a towel, looking in the mirror and deciding that no, you didn’t look good, but you also didn’t look like you’d been crying, so you’d have to deal with it.

You threw on a sweater and laced up your Converse, shoving your phone in your pocket and waving goodbye to your parents as you exited the house.

--------------

At least it was a nice day. It was early October, so it was slightly chilly, but the beautiful reds and oranges on the leaves made it worth the cold.

You cracked a smile, the first one in hours, as you stepped on a crunchy leaf. You then bounded from leaf to leaf, chuckling softly as they crunched satisfyingly under your feet.

You were unaware of the man watching you curiously, only noticing him when you bumped into him.

“Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!” You said immediately, backing away from the man with the spiky hair and trench coat.

“It’s perfectly fine!” He said cheerfully, and you were surprised that when you started walking again, he walked beside you.

You stopped after a moment, turning to look at him and raising an eyebrow. He raised an eyebrow back before he seemed to understand your confusion.

“Oh, right, yes! I’m the Doctor.” He introduced, holding out his hand for you to shake. You did so slowly, muttering your own name quietly. “Sorry, didn’t quite catch that, you are?”

“I’m __y/n__.” You said again, louder this time. “And Doctor…what? Isn’t there more?”

“Nope, just the Doctor.” He answered jauntily before looping his arm through yours and practically skipping down the sidewalk with you.

“What are you doing, exactly?” You called out curiously.

“You looked like you needed some cheering up, so I’m taking you somewhere that’ll make you happy.”

It was weird, you were being pulled along by a complete stranger, but you weren’t scared. As a matter of fact, you were quite overjoyed. This man, he seemed fun. Different. Brilliant, even.

After a few minutes of running, you finally stopped, to which your body thanked you. You were not particularly in shape, so you spent a few minutes wheezing and trying to catch your breath while the Doctor stood near you, twiddling with his thumbs as he waited for you.

“What are we doing outside a police box? Didn’t they stop using these in the sixties?” You asked, peering at the large blue box interestedly.

“Well, yes they did, but this is no ordinary police box. I have to ask before you see what’s inside: do you trust me?”

“Now I’m not sure, do I want to see what’s in there? It’s not like a dead body or something, right?”

The Doctor shook his head quickly, before stepping in front of you and taking a key out of his pocket. He stuck it in a small lock, turned it, and opened the door to the police box, ushering you inside.

You eyed him cautiously as you stepped into the police box, incredibly surprised when you saw that you were in what you guessed to be a control room, not the inside of a police box.

“What? How the hell is this possible?” You asked in awe, peering around.

“It’s simple really, it’s not a police box.”

“What is it then?”

“It’s a TARDIS.”

“And what is a TARDIS?”

“It’s a time machine; TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space.” The Doctor explained, eyes twinkling brightly as you walked around the TARDIS.

“Does this mean you’re an alien?”

The Doctor blinked, somewhat surprised that you figured it out so quickly.

“Yes. I’m a Time Lord.”

“I’m curious, if you’re an alien, why do you look like a human?”

“I don’t. Humans look Time Lord, we evolved first.” He said simply, flipping some switches and turning some dials on the TARDIS’ control panel.

“So,” The Doctor said after a moment, clapping his hands as he turned to face you. “Where do you want to go?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, if you want, I can take you somewhere. And maybe, if you like it, you can travel with me.”

“What about my parents? And school?”

“You’re still in school?” The Doctor asked in surprise, studying your face.

“One more year after this one.”

“How about this: I’ll take you to one place today, and then, in a year, when you’re done with school, I’ll come back for you. How does that sound?”

“That sounds good, but only if you come to visit during that year.”

“I’ll swing by, oh, every month or so, then?”

“I’ll be holding you to that.” You teased, moving closer to the Doctor and the center of the TARDIS.

“Back to my original question: where do you want to go?” He asked.

“Oh, I have a few ideas.”

------------------

And the best part is, after meeting the Doctor, you forgot all about your ex-boyfriend. Your parents fighting didn’t bother you as much, you didn’t stress over school nearly as bad, and the Doctor took you to visit your friend almost every month.

Yes, your walk had definitely been very nice, with some amazing results.

End.  <3
