You scowled as Jack hurried out of your shared apartment, offering you a cheeky grin and a quick wave before he left, going out to meet another one of his “friends”.
Jack was your best friend, and he had been for a long time, but somewhere along the line you had fallen for him. Which sucked. It seriously sucked. There was nothing else you could use to describe it; it was just terrible.
You hated that you had feelings for him, you hated that he was so damn attractive, you hated that he had so many “friends”, sometimes you even hated being his friend.
Why, why on Earth did you have to fall for him? What did you do to deserve this? You sighed, locking the door and curling up on the couch, blinking furiously to keep the tears at bay.
You wanted to tell him, oh how you wanted to, but you didn’t want him to leave. And you knew he would, he was Captain Jack Harkness, he didn’t love the people he slept with, he was just full of lust.
And if he knew that you loved him, he would leave. The few boyfriends you had had always left, why would he be any different? And he wasn’t even your boyfriend! Just your best friend, and that’s all he ever would be.
You cried into the couch, letting all of your emotions out, and eventually, you ran out of tears, drifting off to sleep with a whimper.
-----------------------
Jack came home the next morning, whistling faintly as he unlocked the door. There was a spring in his step as he walked in, disappearing as he spotted you dozing on the couch.
He furrowed his brow in confusion; your room was just down the hall, why had you slept on the tiny couch? As he got closer, he noticed that your cheeks had tear trails on them, and they were still slightly wet.
Jack sighed, caressing your face tenderly. What happened that made you cry? He didn’t want to see you, his precious __y/n__ sad; it made his heart physically ache to see you upset.
He scooped you up off the couch, cradling you to his chest as he carried you into your room, setting you down gently on the bed. You were still asleep, and Jack carefully pulled your __f/c__ covers around your body, smiling sadly down at your small form.
He still hadn’t told you that he was practically immortal, even though you’d been living together for nearly six years. He just didn’t know how to tell you; how does one go about telling their roommate/best friend/secret crush that you were actually several hundred years old?
And that was a big reason why he couldn’t express his feelings to you; you’d die and leave him alone. Jack had a whole new appreciation for the Doctor now, having all these companions grow old and leave you. The other reason was that he was afraid.
Captain Jack Harkness was afraid to admit his feelings to a girl, imagine that. But he was, he loved you, so much more than he’d ever loved anyone, and he couldn’t handle your rejection. The only reason he had so many special “friends” was because he was Jack Harkness, and he was horny, and he hated being in your presence when he was.
He was worried that someday he’d break and do something he’d regret, something to make you hate him. So whenever he felt his urges kicking in, he’d hightail it out of there, never noticing the way your face dropped or your eyes dimmed as his arm went around yet another “friend”.
“Jack…” You mumbled in your sleep, rolling over, snapping Jack out of his reverie. He peered down at you lovingly, leaning down and pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead. For once, he noticed how you reacted to his touch.
Even though you were asleep, you nuzzled into him, a hum of contentment buzzing in your throat. He pulled away, still gazing at you curiously.
You whined softly, your lips curving downward slightly, the hum fading instantly.
Jack realized then that maybe, just maybe, you loved him just as much as he loved you.
End. <3

Last Friday Night (Jack Harkness x Reader)
There was a slight screech as Jack turned off the water to the shower-head. You heard the cabinets open and a towel snap, followed by a familiar tune being whistled. After humming a few bars, you identified the song and frowned.
“Katy Perry? Really, Jack?” You rolled your eyes towards the bathroom door just as he emerged, hair still dripping wet and shirt half-way unbuttoned. His fingers fumbled with the buttons, sliding them in and out of holes, trying to match them correctly but failing every time.
“Rrrhrrrkrrrprrr.” He had a comb in his mouth, so his words came out

"Soooo... Doc said he'd be back in a bit. I got some stuff to do, you be okay in here?" Jack asked, sitting comfortably on the couch in the library across from the girl, ____. Her hands were folded and she was looking down, her hair blocking her face from his view and she mumbled something incoherent.
He-he-he-hey, hey, could you wait a minute?
If you're busy, sorry
Just a little, hey, a little while
I want to talk with you
"U-um, Jack? What are you going to do?" She asked, looking up at last.
"Nothing much. Why?"
"C-can I come with you?"
Jack smiled brightly and accepted her offer, the stood to leave the enormous room. "There's somethin

The Doctor smiled as he stepped out of the TARDIS, hugging the man in front of him.
“Good to see you again Jack!”
“You too Doctor” Jack chuckled. “Where’s (Y/n)?” He asked, breaking the friendly embrace.
“Inside. She just got out of the pool and last time I checked she was laying on her bed. Didn’t even bother to dry off.” The Doctor laughed slightly and shook his head. “I need you to watch her and the TARDIS while she refuels, the TARDIS I mean. Not (Y/n). I’m going shopping for supplies. So. Make sure (Y/n) doesn

I do not own Doctor Who or any of its characters, all rights go to their rightful owners. I also do not own the picture, again all rights go to their rightful owners.
Welp, out of character Jack is out of character. Oops. BUT DAMMIT I LOVE HIM TO PIECES AND I WANTED TO WRITE FOR HIM ;-;
(Even though he's out of character, I'd expect more for him in the future because he's my baby)
Also, I dunno the time period, I'd say just sometime when he's working at Torchwood.
